Sailing boats heel in the wind, reducing the propulsive thrust. Catamarans achieve a higher speed due to their sail always being vertical, but have a second hull which generates an avoidable resistance in the water. The present invention solves the problem by having the keel constructed to swivel and with an aerofoil section, which can be swivelled to the right or left as desired. Thus a righting moment is created that is controlled by pendulum sensors. The self-righting sailing boat thus equipped is capable of converting winds into speed better, which is important for races.
