PURPOSE: To provide a discharge lamp display device at a high optical output, which can clearly display the information, by forming a phosphor layer, which has a predetermined pattern and which emits the light at various wavelength, in an inner surface of a glass flat plate at a desirable position, and using the xenon gas as the discharge gas. CONSTITUTION: A discharge display device is formed of a discharge container, which is formed of transparent glass plates 10, 12 arranged in parallel with each other, xenon gas as the discharge material sealed inside of a discharge space, a phosphor layer 16 adhered to at least one glass plate 12 at a predetermined position of an inner surface, a first electrode 20 formed in an outer surface of the glass plate 10 and a second electrode 22 formed in an outer surface of the glass plate 12. Pattern of the phosphor layer and the phosphor material for forming a pattern are appropriately selected so as to form a pattern at the predetermined position of the glass flat plate, and the desirable information can be thereby finely written in the glass flat plate, and the desirable information can be clearly displayed. Furthermore, since the xenon gas is used, high optical output can be obtained. |
