<p>PURPOSE:To carry out powerful deoxidation, desulfurization, and denitriding and to manufacture an alloy excellent in various characteristics, such as creep strength, heat resistance, toughness, weldability, and forgeability, by refining the titled Al-containing alloy by using slag containing TiO2, etc., in a vessel made of prescribed refractory material under an atmosphere of vacuum, etc. CONSTITUTION:An Fe-base, Co-base, or Ni-base alloy containing, by weight, 0.02-5% Al is refined by using slag containing TiO2 and/or CeO2 under a vacuum or inert-gas atmosphere in a vessel in which at least the internal surface is formed of CaO-MgO refractory material containing 10-75% MgO. Moreover, it is desirable that the slag contains CaF2 and/or BaF2 and further contains LiO2. By this method, the alloy minimal in respective contents of O, N, and S, practically free from oxide inclusions, and excellent in the above-mentioned various characteristics can be manufactured.</p> |
