PURPOSE: To obtain a stable skin accumulation type antiviral medicine for external use containing 5-isopropyl-2'-β-deoxyuridine as an active ingredient, quickly and selectively absorbed and accumulated into skin and capable of exhibiting excellent antiviral properties by a few active ingredient amount. CONSTITUTION: This medicine is obtained by mixing 5wt.% 5-isopropyl-2'-β- deoxyuridine represented by the formula as an active ingredient with a carrier and a diluent or the other additive used for formulation of ordinary medicine for external use and preparing the mixture into ointment, emulsion, suspension, gel, solution, spray, adhesive plaster, etc., so as to use for dermatology or ophthalmology. The active ingredient amount used as ophthalmology is 0.1-1wt.%. Furthermore, since administration of the medicine is locally carried out, the medicine for external use can be used in a fewer amount than an amount of medicine for internal use.
