PURPOSE:To obtain an epoxy compound in high coversion ratio and in high yield, by reacting an organic hydroperoxide with an olefin compound in the coexistence of an epoxydizing catalyst and an aminopolycarboxylic acid or its alkali metal salt. CONSTITUTION:In preparing an epoxy compound by bringing an organic hydroperoxide into contact with an olefin compound in the presence of an epoxydizing catalyst(e.g., Mo compound), the reaction is carried out in the coexistence of an aminopolycarboxylic acid. Ethylenediamine-tetraacetic acid is preferable as the aminopolycarboxylic acid, and its amount is 0.002-0.02 based on the organic hydroperoxide. Molybdenum naphthenate, etc. is used as the Mo catalyst, and its amount is 0.01-0.5wt% based on the organic hydroperoxide. The reaction temperature is preferably 50-150 deg.C. |
