<p>Contact materials for vacuum switches having copper and chromium as basic components and additional components containing tellurium or selenium and in which copper telluride (cu2Te) or copper selenide (cu2Se) are formed as binary intermetallic phases are known. According to the invention, the additional component is a ternary intermetallic phase composed of copper, chromium and tellurium or copper, chromium and selenium with a tellurium or selenium content higher than that in the known intermetallic phases. The surge currents of the contact pieces fabricated from the contact material according to the invention are thereby reduced and the overvoltage behaviour enhanced.</p> |
