Advances in the art of cytology and cell differentiation and identification basic to medical diagnostics. It has been discovered that a novel dye, presently known as basic blue 93, a basic cationic azo dyestuff whose chemical structure is not of public record, but which is publicly available and accurately identified by its absorbance spectrum made a part hereof, when reacted with dried or fixed preparations of specimens of human blood and bone marrow cells reacts with lysosomes (primary granules) in the cells of the neutrophilic granulocytic series to provide novel diagnostic advances permitting differentiation between myeloblasts and lymphoblasts, for example, prior to specific therapy election in leukemic patients. |
