The method for ventilating and dehumidifying a room having heat and moisture producers situated therein, in particular a cowshed, in which method, through at least one opening in at least one side wall, fresh air is supplied to the room and heated, moisture-laden foul air is discharged therefrom, is characterised according to the invention in that the fresh-air current (8) is passed under the foul-air current (9) and separated from the latter by an inwardly downwardly inclined flap (4) through said opening (2), and the heated, moisture-laden air is collected in the room above the opening (2) in a layer (12), from which the foul air is released to the outside through the opening(s) (2). The arrangement for ventilating and dehumidifying the room is characterised in that the opening (2) is arranged at a distance from the room ceiling (11), a horizontally pivotable flap (4) is fitted in the opening (2), the pivot axis (5) of which is at a distance from the upper and lower flap edge (4<a>, 4<b>), and the height of the flap (4) is greater than the height of the opening (2). The mixture of cold fresh air and moist warm air and hence moisture condensation in the shed is avoided. <IMAGE>
