A cowl box (4) is provided in a vehicle body between a rear edge of an engine hood (1) and a windshield (2). The front hood (1) is mounted on the vehicle body to be swung open and closed about a hinge (19) mounted on the vehicle body on the rear side of the rear edge of the front hood (1). The cowl cover (3) is opened and closed by a driving mechanism (10-18) comprising a four-bar link mechanism (12-15) including first and second links (12, 13) each of which is pivoted at one end thereof on a member (9) mounted on the front hood (1) and at the other end on the lower surface of the cowl cover (3) and which extend substantially in parallel spaced from each other in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body, a driving motor (18) and a connecting mechanism (16, 17) for transmitting the output power of the driving motor to the four-bar link mechanism (12-5).
