PURPOSE:To obtain a glucide absorption inhibitor useful as a drug for treating fatness and diabetes and food additive, by making a component suppressing saccharide absorption of Gymnema Sylvestre R.Br or a substance containing the component into microcapsule by using a high polymer compound. CONSTITUTION:A component suppressing saccharide absorption of Gymnema Sylvestre R.Br of the family Asclepiadaceae or a substance containing the component suppressing saccharide absorption is blended with a fat-soluble substance having low polarity. Then the blend is made into microcapsule by using a high polymer compound which is pharmaceutically acceptable or acceptable with respect to food and is not decomposed in the mouth but in the stomach or the intestine by a well-known method to give the aimed substance. In order to suppress fatness, 300-3,000mg calculated as powder of leaves of Gymnema Sylvestre R.Br is administered once-dividedly several times daily and when the inhibitor is added to a food, 0.1-10% calculated as powder of leaves of Gymnema Sylvestre R.Br is blended with the food. The inhibitor is a pharmaceutical preparation which has sweetness and good taste in eating and suppresses absorption of saccharide after eating. |
