PURPOSE:To secure an optical character read of a fine character such as a comma by recognizing and identifying character data again without preprocessing on the basis of a table wherein the output condition of every character data such as phase features is set. CONSTITUTION:Phase features, etc., as the output condition of every prescribed fine character are stored previously in a memory 10 in the form of the table. Photoelectrically converted character data D are inputted, character by character, to a selecting circuit 2 by a line buffer 1. Then, they are inputted to an identifying circuit 9 through a preprocessing circuit 3, memory 4, character recognizing circuit 7, etc., and then compared with the contents of the table stored in the memory 10. The circuit 9 makes a rescan, namely, recognizes the same character data without preprocessing on the basis of the comparison results, thereby outputting the identification result as an answer. Thus, the character read of a fine symbol such as a comma is secured. |
