PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a pump with a battery by feeding chlorine from the lower section of an absorbing tower into contact with a chlorine absorbing solvent flowing down to be absorbed by it at the time of charging and feeding the chlorine generated by the absorbing solvent to an electrolyte from the absorbing tower at the time of discharging. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte is circulated to an electrode section 1 from an electrolyte tank 3, the chlorine generated by the electrode section 1 is absorbed by a cooled solvent and stored in an absorbing tank at the time of charging, the chlorine generated by heating the solvent is fed to the electrolyte at the time of discharging, an absorbing tower 6 circulating the solvent from the absorbing tank is provided, and a filler material through which the solvent flows down dispersively is provided in the absorbing tower 6. Chlorine is fed from the lower section of the absorbing tower 6 and countercurrently brought into contact with the solvent flowing down to be absorbed by it at the time of charging, and the chlorine generated by the absorbing solvent is fed to the electrolyte from the absorbing tower 6 at the time of discharging. The efficiency of absorption and desorption of chlorine is thereby improved, thus the power consumption of a pump can be reduced. |
