PURPOSE: To prevent the deformation of outer shell in a continuously cast material and to uniformize the quality by forming the section of a metallic mold curved as almost parallel state in the lower range of the metallic mold for continuous casting and shifting at least one side of the wall in the longitudinal direction to tangential line in the upper range. CONSTITUTION: In the walls 8, 9 in the longitudinal direction limiting the width of a slab in the metallic mold 1 for continuous casting, the lower range of the metallic mold 1 below the horizontal line R1 is formed by parallel curving. The wall 8 positioned at the outside of the curve is shifted to the straight section as the tangential line state from the curved wall section. This shifting point 10 is positioned below the horizontal line R1 . By this constitution, a supplementary space 13 is formed according to the position of the tangential line 12. The wall 9 is formed in the curving state as it is or corrected into a straight shape. The deformation of the outer shell in the continuously cast material caused by oscillation, etc., is prevented by forming the space 13 and the guide of the continuously cast material is made to good and this quality is uniformized. |
