PURPOSE:To obtain the method of connecting a carpet through easy operation at low cost by welding a piece of the carpet with the ultrasonic heating so that the integrally formed carpet may be laid three-dimensionally without a gap. CONSTITUTION:Carpets 1, 2 to be connected are placed on a work bench 10, and end edges of back lining layers 4, consisting of thermoplastic synthetic resin, are located at a face-to-face position. Then a connection part 11 of the back lining layers 4 is press contacted with an ultrasonic tool horn 9 and softened, and then cooled and hardened by detaching the ultrasonic tool horn 9 from the connection part 11, thus the back lining layers 4 are integrally connected. The back lining layer 4, if consisting of thermoplastic synthetic resin, can slso connect a cerpet of different kind. A connecting device used for this method is constituted by a supporting jig 13, supporting sides of surface soft layers 5 by point contact, and the ultrasonic tool horn 9, and stronger connection can be performed if welded by using a holding plate 12 of thermoplastic material thinner than the back lining layer 4. |
