There is provided a mine-field shoe which is an inflatable multi-compartment air cushion 2 having when inflated, at least one flexible substantially flat, ground-contacting surface, at least one rigid tread member 20 attachable to an upper surface of the air cushion, and means 26 for attaching the mine-field shoe to a boot. Each of the compartments 4 of said air cushion is adapted to communicate with at least one other compartment.
