PURPOSE:To prevent creation of white smoke by cutting off when the quantity of injected fuel is zero, by means of a cut-off valve, the passageway between a fuel pump and a high pressure chamber which is communicated with each injection nozzle and in which fuel is boosted in pressure by the effort of a plunger. CONSTITUTION:When a starter switch is turned on, a fuel cut-off solenoid valve, that is, a fuel cut-off valve 121 is electrified, hence allowing fuel to be supplied to a high pressure chamber 108, while when the starter switch is turned off, the valve 121 is demagnetized, hence cutting off supply of fuel to the high pressure chamber 108. When the computed quantity of injected fuel is zero, the valve 121 is demagnetized at a specified timing to cut off the communication between the high pressure chamber 108 and a fuel pump 110. At the same time, a linear solenoid 117 is also driven by the signal from a control circuit 3 to slide a spill ring 114 to a specified position. Fuel is thereby prevented from leaking to be injected from an injection nozzle, hence preventing creation of white smoke. |
