The process consists of (a) filtering the effluent water through mechanical filters; (b) ultra-filtration through semi-permeable capillary membranes, which are periodically washed with an aq. soln. of hypochlorite and/or industrial detergent; (c) adjusting the filtrate to neutral oH; (d) treating by reverse osmosis in semi-permeable capillary membrane filters; and (e) repetition of stage (d). Each operation is automatically controlled by a programmed micro-processor. The system increases the operational flexibility and efficiency of purificn. of water effluent from olive mills.
