The invention concerns the use as bridging agents for biological ligands, of compounds of general formula (I), where Y is -N2<O>A<O> or -N=N-SO2R2, A<O> being an anion and R2 an alkyl or aryl group, possibly substituted, Ar is a p-phenylene group, possibly substituted, R and R1 each stand for -H, an alkyl group with 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or an arylalkyl group in which the aryl has 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Z stands for = O or = S, E is a spacing arm, X is a nucleophilic or electrophilic reactive functional group in free or protected form, m, p and q each stand for the number 0 or 1, given that: when m = 0, p = 0 and q = 1 when m = p = 1, q = 1; and of products of formula I labelled with radioactive isotopes. Also described are new compounds of formula I and their preparation. Application in particular to photoaffinity labelling.
