A new type of fastening element (5) extends over the entire base (2) of the housing of the switching device (1) together with which it forms a lock. A rectangular recess (3) in the base (2) of the housing is substantially wider than the profile rail (4) and forms a nose (24) surrounding the profile rail (4). One end of the fastening element (5) forms the lock, and the other end has a second nose (23) which surrounds the profile rail (4). The fastening element (5) can be subsequently mounted on the switching device (1) assembled by rivetting or screwing.
