PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability by a method wherein a sensor to detect the magnetic flux is attached to a tank which houses a superconducting apparatus so that a local quenching part can be detected to protect the superconducting apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Sensors 4 of a detector of the magnetic flux, e.g. Hall elements or the like, are attached to the inside of a tank 1; a detected signal is transferred to a comparison and arithmetic device 6 through a cable 5. At the comparison and arithmetic device 6, quantities of the magnetic flux are always compared and operated. If a difference from a normal operation exceeds a reference value, the signal is transferred to an alarm device 7. If two or more sensors 4 are attached to the tank 1, an electromotive force of the sensor becomes lower in accordance with a distance from a point where a quenching phenomenon is caused. Accordingly, it the difference in two or more electromotive forces are compared, it is possible to estimate the point where the quenching phenomenon was caused. Accordingly, it is possible to enhance the reliability by detecting a locally quenched position by means of a simple method. |
