PURPOSE: To achieve an early detection of the breakage of a heat exchanger tube by including an intermediate plenum connected to a leak detecting section to be formed each between a pair of tube plates and a pair of intermediate tube plates and a porous heat transfer body comprising an alloy for storing hydrogen being filled between an inner tube and an outer tube. CONSTITUTION: When a cracking is caused in an inner tube 103, water and steam leak and pass through a porous heat transfer body 111 between the inner tube 103 and an outer tube 104 to flow into an upper intermediate plenum 123 or a lower intermediate plenum 124. Moreover, the water and steam pass to a leak detecting part by way of a leak detecting nozzle 125 or 126 and are detected by a leak sensor or the like. On the other hand, when a cracking is caused in the outer tube 104, a high pressure gas in the intermediate plenum 123 or 124 flows out to the side of a cooling material from a broken part of the outer tube 104 through the porous heat transfer body 111 between the inner tube 103 and the outer tube 104. Thus, a drop in the pressure is checked in the intermediate plenum 123 or 124 thereby detecting the leak of the high pressure gas and the breakage of the outer tube 104. |
