PURPOSE: To enable manufacture of a winding wire which is particularly required for an electromagnetic coil by filling a sheath made of a metal which is cold-workable to a high degree with a homogeneous superconducting material of pulverized fine particles, and cold-working the filled sheath to have a desired cross-sectional shape. CONSTITUTION: Before filling a sheath, a ceramic material is repeatedly pulverized, pressed, sintered, and heat-treated through known methods, until the desired homogeneity and superconductivity are reached. A metal is particularly suitable for the sheath that has a high melting point, a high elongation, and infinite possibility of cold-working, and as a result, enabling omitting an intermediate heat treatment during the cold-working. Strong solidification of the metallic body obtained simultaneously by the omission of the intermediate heat treatment, after the cold-working meets mechanical requirements necessary for the forming processes, after being combined with hard, brittle powder and is not hindered by the intermediate heat treatment either. In this way, a winding wire necessary for electromagnetic coils, in particular, may be manufactured. |
