Ester, thioester or amide obtained by reaction between oxolinic acid or a derivative of the latter which is reactive at the carboxyl group and an OH, SH or NH2 end group of an alternating, block or random homopolymer or copolymer comprising, on the one hand, an average of 2, to 50 identical or different units of structure - (CHR'CHR"O)- where R' and R" denote, independently of each other, a hydrogen atom or a C1-C4 alkyl group and, on the other hand, a first, OH, SH or NH2 end group and a second, OR end group where R = H, C1-C4 alkyl optionally substituted by OH or a 5- or 6-membered saturated cyclic ether residue. This ester, thioester or amide is useful as an antibiotic agent.
