PURPOSE:To obtain a high contrast in a liquid crystal display element by using a film formed by the plasma polymn. of benzene or a deriv. thereof for at least one of orientation film provided to a pair of transparent electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Two transparent electrode substrates provided with orientation films on transparent electrodes are arranged bringing the orientation films to the inside, and liquid crystals are sealed between the substrates. Film(s) formed by the plasma polymn. of benzene or a deriv. thereof is(are) used for at least one of the orientation films of the liquid crystal element. Suitable benzene deriv. is expressed by the general formula I, wherein each R1 and R2 is H or CnH2n+1(n=1-3)C2H3. The liquid crystal element obtd. by this constitution is not colored and provides high contrast. |
