PURPOSE:To enable a tilting lever shaft to be surely fixed even if an operating lever is loosely tightened, by constituting a lock arm to be fixed by a base and engaging pin relative to a fixed bracket when the operating lever is opera tively tightened. CONSTITUTION:A fixed bracket 4 is disposed on the outer periphery of intermedi ate portion of a vertically swingable steering column 1 mounting on the upper end a handle, and the base of a lock arm 5 is vertically pivotably connected to the outer surface of said bracket by a stepped bolt 6. A pin guide 8 is pro vided projectingly on the front end of lock arm 5 and an engaging pin 9 is inserted in said guide 8 so that the front end of said pin 9 can engage pin holes A'-D' formed in the fixed bracket 4 correspondingly to tilting positions A-D of the tilting lever shaft 7 through a hole 5a in the lock arm 5. Further, a nut 13 is loosely fitted on the outer periphery of tilting lever shaft 7 and mounts on the front end the intermediate portion of operating lever 14 so that the front end of engaging pin 9 projects into a slot 14b in the front end of operating lever 14. |
