PURPOSE: To easily and surely detect an encode error by detecting a continuous encode error by combining the current check of a writing head and the reading check of a reading head. CONSTITUTION: The feeding of a ticket is detected by a detection circuit 5, the information on the ticket is read by a reading circuit 6 and judgement is performed by a judging circuit 7. When the ticket is valid, the signal of this effect is transmitted to a clock synchronizing encode circuit 9 and a writing head current check circuit 10. A detection circuit 11 detects the degradation of the head press in the reading head or the presence or absence of suspended dust and a detection circuit 12 detects the presence or absence of the disconnection of a writing head. A judging circuit 13 judges whether a mechanical failure is generated or not in an encode device based on the signals from the detection circuits 11 and 12, and a stoppage circuit 14 and a failure notification circuit 15 are operated. |
