The invention relates to a safety valve for installation in lines for fluids, in particular for lines for delivering natural gas, crude oil, water or the like, in which a housing with a flap-shaped valve-closing mechanism can be installed directly in the line and in which the valve-closing mechanism can be adjusted about a joint as a function of a pressure change in the delivery line between a position letting through the fluids and a position blocking the fluids, an operator bush longitudinally displaceable in the line being provided for actuating the valve-closing mechanism. To reduce the loading of the joint, the front end (42, 43) of the operator bush (50) facing the flap-shaped part (31) of the closing mechanism is designed to slope in such a way that the area of the part (31) remote from a joint (34) of the flap-shaped part (31) is touched first during the valve opening and last during the valve closing. <IMAGE>
