Hogging machine having a hogging wheel comprising at least one supporting disc which is fixed on a drive shaft and on which at least two cutter supports having cutters are screwed, the cutters of which have substantially radial cutting edges which cut off the hogged wood on a counter cutting edge at a mouth of a feed shaft in the housing front wall of the machine and which is equipped with ejection wings which eject the chopped material through an ejection shaft, it being possible for one cutter support to be detached at least partly together with the cutter and replaced by a balancing weight which can be screwed onto the screw connection of the cutter support or cutter, is constructed in one piece and has a radially inner part and a radially outer part. The balancing weight is shaped taking into consideration the installation of the hogging machine and taking account of the trouble-free supply and discharge of the hogged wood, and as far as possible with elimination of the static and dynamic unbalance.
