PURPOSE: To obtain a complete estimate result by initializing a gradient algorithm based on a displacement estimated in an adjacent pixel, which is in a cause and effect relation to a pixel, in a plurality of directions and propagating each estimate in the scanning direction of lines of the image. CONSTITUTION: Each current pixel in a 1st step is analyzed by scanning each line. A luminance gradient of each current pixel is calculated in a 2nd step and the absolute value is compared with a prescribed threshold level in a 3rd step. Depending on the comparison result, a step 4 to select a causal proximity displacement of the current pixel or a step 5 to estimate new four displacement sets from 4 initial values of the causal proximity displacement of the current pixel is executed. When the step 5 is finished, a step 6 is proceeded, where one displacement is selected from four displacement sets estimated by the step 5. Every time the execution of the step 4 or 6 is finished, a succeeding pixel is initialized and the displacement is recorded in a step 8. |
