<p>The present specification discloses a vehicle parking apparatus for use in enabling two vehicles to be parked in the same area, the vehicles being located one above the other. The apparatus comprises a base (12) and a pair of upstanding stanchions (34,36) with a vehicle parking platform (42) disposed between and movable along the stanchions (34,36). An articulated stabilizer bar assembly comprising a rocker arm (68,74) and a control arm (70,76) pivotally connected to one another, is pivotally connected to the parking platform (42) and base (12) respectively. A piston and cylinder assembly (84,86) extends pivotally from a fixed location (88,92) e.g. at the top of a stanchion, to a pivotal location (90,94) on the articulated stabilizer bar assembly (68,74; 70,76). Thus, the piston and cylinder assemblies (84,86) do not add to the height of the apparatus, but do contribute to stabilization during the lifting of a vehicle on the parking platform (42).</p> |
