A printing ink resin is prepd. by (a) reacting a 30-80 wt.% soln. of colophony and/or tall resin, in an organic solvent, at not above 115 deg.C and opt. in several steps, with an organic cpd., to form a compact and opt. increased prod., and (b) converting the prod. to an ionic cpd. by reaction with a metal cpd., also at not above 115 deg.C. (a) The solvent is pref. toluene, opt. with another organic solvent. The organic cpd. is phenol, HCHO, furfural, furan, dicylopentadiene, tall oil fatty acid, unsatd. fatty acids, lower alcohols or glycols, melamine urea, urethanes, acrylic acid, (substd.) acrylates, styrene, isocyanates, epoxy cpds., paraldehyde, ketoximes, and/or maleic acid or anhydrides; phenol and HCO are pref. (b) The reaction prod. is reacted with a Ca cpd., opt. with other metal cpd(s)., esp. a mixt. of a Ca cpd. and a Zn cpd., more esp. a mixt. of Ca(OH)2, Ca acetate and ZnO.
|
