PURPOSE:To raise the repetition oscillation frequency of an oscillation and to enhance the mean output of laser radiation by dividing an exciting region for oscillating with one laser medium into a plurality of segments to periodically perform laser oscillations. CONSTITUTION:The exciting regions of a laser medium 1 are divided into four segments 1a-1d, and excitation lamps 2a1-2d2 are provided corresponding to the segments. A revolving unit 9 for feeding the laser radiation from the segments to the same optical path is provided. Reflecting mirrors 8a-8d are arranged at positions corresponding to the exciting regions on the side face of a square-sectional columnar supporting member 7. The laser radiation reflected here is fed to a stationary reflecting mirror 11. A detection light emitter 13 for emitting detection light for detecting a corresponding reflecting mirror for forming an optical path is provided. The detection light is photodetected by photodetectors 13a-13d, which are converted by a photoelectric detector 13 to electric signals, which are, in turn, fed to a fire signal controller 14. When the quantity of light becomes maximum, an excitation lamp is fired. Accordingly, since the lamp emitting frequency of the lamp becomes 1/4, the temperature rise of the laser medium is suppressed, and the number of oscillations can be raised to high frequency. |
