In a stethoscope having a diaphragm chest piece (17) the diaphragm (15) is detachably mounted on the diaphragm housing (10) via an adhesive connection. For this purpose, the diaphragm (15) is preferably provided with a self-adhesive layer (16) by which it can be held on the diaphragm housing edge (18) in a manner that is sound-proof and fixed against displacement but so that it can nevertheless be peeled off. The diaphragm housing can advantageously be used at the same time as a cone part (10), so that this stethoscope can be used with or without the diaphragm (15). The cone wall consequently comprises an annular element of a flexible material, for example rubber or flexible plastic. The stethoscope may additionally be provided with a fixed diaphragm (7) in which case it is designed as an invertable stethoscope. <IMAGE>
