PURPOSE: To always properly discriminate the kind of printed matter without generating erroneous identification by deciding the kind of printed matter based on the discrimination results from plural kinds of discriminating means. CONSTITUTION: When a paper money 2 is conveyed on a carrier path 1, its denomination is discriminated based on the shape of the paper money 2. Next, the denomination is discriminated based on the magnetic pattern of the paper money 2 conveyed on the carrier path 1. Continuously, the denomination is discriminated based on a printing pattern on the surface of the paper money 2 conveyed through the carrier path 1. Further, the denomination is discriminated based on a printing pattern on the rear side of the paper money 2 conveyed through the carrier path 1. Then, the data of the discriminated results provided from respective kinds of discrimination parts 18-21 are collected to a total discrimination part 22 and the final discriminating processing of the paper money 2 is performed. Thus, the kind of printed matter can be always properly discriminated without generating the erroneous discrimination. |
