PURPOSE:To read a data block in a normal way, by reading the data block written by a head for n-tracks including a dropout by means of a head for 2n- track to produce a read error and then switching the read head to the head of the adjacent head. CONSTITUTION:An error counter 9 counts the transmitting frequencies of error detecting signal from an error detecting circuit 8 and then transmits an error confirmation signal to a track switch control circuit 10 if it counts consecutively (m) times of transmissions of the error detecting signals with repetition of reading actions of some times. The circuit 10 delivers the signal sent from a read head 4 to a read amplifier 6 of the following stage via a read head switch circuit 5 and by said error confirmation signal. Therefore, the read signal sent from the head 4 corresponding to the (2n-1)-track is supplied to the circuit 10. Thus it is possible to read the same block with shift of a track. |
