PURPOSE:To manufacture stably a shape memory alloy, by hot-working a Cu-Zn- Al alloy having a specified composition at a specified temp. and by repeating process annealing at a specified temp. for a specified time and cold working at a specified working rate or below. CONSTITUTION:A Cu-Zn-Al alloy consisting of 0.5-2.5wt% Al, 26-36wt% Zn and the balance Cu is melted, cast, and hot worked at 550-850 deg.C, especially 600-700 deg.C to form a plate. The plate is finished to the desired shape by repeating process annealing at 450-650 deg.C, especially 530-580 deg.C for 0.5-2hr, especially about 1hr and cold working at <=80% working rate. Thus, a shape memory Cu- Zn-Al alloy which is difficult to manufacture by conventional cold working can be manufactured by cold working. |
