PURPOSE:To enable a bankbook of which in one line a plurality of business contents can be recorded to be treated, by providing an optical device for detecting presence of a line to have been printed in a column of printing lines provided by division and a carrier means for carrying a line to be not yet printed just under the optical device. CONSTITUTION:By detecting a rear end of a bankbook N with a bankbook printing position carrier timing sensor 12 on a carrier path 6, a bankbook is stopped, and an optical device is actuated. Then, variation of white and black on a surface of the bankbook is sampled at an interval of 70mum, and data are buffered. Whether a line to have been printed is present in columns on a left side and right side of the surface of the bankbook or not is detected based on the buffered data. This detected result is transmitted to the bankbook printing position carrier timing sensor 12, and the bankbook N is carried so that the line to be printed is positioned just under a printing head 18 by a signal from this bankbook printing position carrier timing sensor 12. |
