FLOATING TYPE MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of abnormal peaks in reproduction waveforms and the crosstalks between tracks by inclining the joint surfaces of a magnetic head with respect to a magnetic gap and controlling the end of a magnetic gap by parallel tapered grooves. CONSTITUTION:A winding groove 33 is formed on the butt surface 32a of a magnetic core half body 32 and the joint surface 36 for joining a ferromagnetic metallic film 35 inclined with respect to the magnetic gap 34 is formed on a part of the surface 32. The surface of the film 35 formed on the surface 36 forms one gap 34 forming surface. A slider part 31 has an air bearing surface 38 for floating and the half body 32 is integrally joined via a gap material consisting of a nonmagnetic material to nearly the central part at the end face 39 thereof to form the gap 34 on the same plane as the surface 38. The width of the gap 34 is controlled by the width (t) of a center rail 38a formed by the nearly two tapered grooves 40 formed within the surface 38 to form the substantial track width.
