A radial tyre comprising a reinforcing lining made up of a carcass ply and a reinforcement ply, and at least one of the carcass and reinforcement plies is reinforced with impregnated cords made of poly(ethylene terephtalate) fibres satisfying the four special requirements, an adhesive of the resorcinal-formaldehyde latex type is employed for the impregnation and the four conditions are tenacity, the long period of X-ray low-angle scattering, the end carboxyl group content and the diethylene glycol content of the polymer. The durability of the tyre is thus considerably improved. |
