In a method for preventing formation of knots in a flying pennant 1, one produces an increase in the mass and/or rigidity of the pennant 1 within a small bounded region 2 in relation to the area of the pennant near the end 4 of the pennant, which is opposite the end 5 by which the pennant is secured to the flagpole 3. One thereby achieves, in a very simple way, that the pennant 1 will have less tendency to get knotted up even in brisk wind. <IMAGE>
