The invention relates to a drying arrangement, in which a moist material web is guided along a number of radiant heaters arranged in a plane parallel to the material web in order to achieve at least a predrying. As the material web cannot be conveyed uniformly in the light of the handling stages existing before and after but undergoes occasional stops, the danger exists in the case of high-power radiant heaters of damaging the material by heat action as switching off the radiant heaters is not correspondingly inertia-free. The invention solves this problem by the radiant heaters being provided with pivotable reflectors which, by means of mechanical arrangements, can be pivoted out of an action position into a blocking position, in which latter they screen the material web from the radiation.
