Heat exchanger for cooling flue gases with glass pipes surrounded by flowing coolant, a jacket pipe and inlet and outlet connections, characterised in that the pipe wall of these glass pipes exhibits a profile, and in that each glass pipe is held at its ends by means of an elastic, temperature-resistant hole sealing disc, which is clamped between two hole discs attached to the jacket pipe.
