PURPOSE:To ensure excellent environmental resistance and favorable recording sensitivity and reduce film-forming cost, by providing a recording film comprising a specified metallic salt of an organic acid as a main constituent, on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A metallic salt of an organic acid constituting a recording film is desirably a metallic naphthenate of the formula, wherein Me is a metal such as Ni, Cu, Zn and Mn, and n is 1-20. The metallic naphthenate, well known as a drying agent for paints, is highly soluble in alcohols, acetone, toluene and the like, and is a nearly black substance resembling coal tar in appearance. An optical information recording medium is produced by dissolving the salt in a solvent, and applying the resultant solution to a substrate to provide an opaque recording film. When the recording film is locally irradiated with laser radiation, the nearly black opaque recording film is changed to be substantially transparent. |
