PURPOSE:To have high critical temp. and critical current density by accommodat ing a mixture of several sorts of powder with specific particle sizes in a covered tube made of specific metal, wherein the powder contains some elements to allow synthetization of a compound superconductor of oxide type, subjecting the mixture to regressive processing together with the covering tube into linear form, and by performing heat treatment in oxygen gas atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Mixture 1 of several sorts of powder with particle sizes below 5mum containing elements, which allow synthetization of a compound superconduc tor of oxide type is accommodated in a covering tube 2 made of a material selected among Cu, Ag, Ag alloy, Au, Pt, Cr alloy, and in this condition, the mixture is subjected to regressive processing together with the covered tube 2 into linear form. A wire 4 formed by this process is subjected to heat treat ment in oxygen gas atmosphere. This enables raising satisfactorily the density of the mother material for superconductive substance covered with a covering 5. Thus a compound superconductive wire is provided, in which high critical temperature and high critical current density are compatible.
