PURPOSE:To prevent the unevenness of image caused by an electrostatic charge memory from occurring by impressing a bias having a polarity opposite to toner on an elastic member for transfer which makes a transfer material abut on an image carrier. CONSTITUTION:With the rotation of a photosensitive body 1, a latent image reaches the position of a developing device 3 and developed. The toner image reaches the transfer part installing a transfer roller 5 by fitting the timing with the transfer material supplied through a carrier path 4 and the toner image is transferred from the photosensitive body 1 to the transfer material in the said position. In this case, transfer is executed by making the transfer material abut on the photosensitive body 1 by means of the elastic member on which the bias having the polarity opposite to the toner is impressed. Since the photosensitive body 1 is not charged in the polarity opposite to its own electrification characteristic, the electrification memory does not occur and the unevenness of the density of the image is not caused.
