PURPOSE:To make a motor compact in size and to prevent it against malfunction, by enclosing a magnet and a Hall element for detecting rpm into the motor case, and by mounting the magnet to a rotor and providing the Hall element between coils. CONSTITUTION:An AC motor 11 is equipped with a rotor 15, a rotating shaft 16, a stator 17, a coil 18, a bearing 19 and a spool 20. The rotor 15, etc. are enclosed into motor cases 21A and 21B. An annular magnet A for rpm detection is provided to a step section 15A formed in the middle part of the rotor 15 where a notch A is formed to the stator 17 and spool 20 between adjacent coil 18. A fixing member 22 is inserted into this notch A, to the hollow of which the Hall element 23 for rpm detection is installed face to face with the abovementioned magnet M. The space between the motor 11 and a blast fan 12 can thereby be so reduced that the whole body can be made compact in size.
