The invention describes a clamping device for closure of a wound with clips which comprises a thin shaft equipped for gripping through a sleeve or the instrument channel of a laparoscope. Through this shaft there extends a pressure and/or tensile element in the longitudinal direction, on which an actuation element engages at one end of the shaft and which, at the other end of the shaft, drives a bending tool for the clips with two bending members that are movable relative to one another and whose pressure elements face one another. In order to keep the bending members of this device as far as possible within the cross-section predetermined by the shaft, the bending movement (19) of at least one of the bending members (11, 12) is directed along the shaft (2) and one of the two bending members (11) has two pressure elements (13) which are arranged laterally adjacent to the pressure element (14) of the other bending member (12) when viewed along the shaft (12). <IMAGE>
