PURPOSE:To correctly and automatically record calender defect position information generated during a calender treating step by providing a specific calender defect detecting and calculating device in the step of a rubber cord. CONSTITUTION:A distance from a calender defect detecting position of a rubber cord to its winding position is obtained by a running distance calculator 22. An output signal C from a moving distance integrator 21 and an output signal D from a running distance calculator 22 are supplied to a comparator 23, and an output signal B is generated from the comparator 23 at a time when these signals coincide. Then, the number NX of revolutions of a rubber cord winding is detected by a number-of-revolution detector 14, and supplied to a calculator 26. The calculator 26 calculates NY=NO-NX. The NO is the counted value of a counter 24, the NY is the number of revolutions from the winding of the outermost periphery of a winding 8 to the next defect position. The NY is printed out by a printer 27.
