PURPOSE:To prevent adhesion of a film to a thermal head at the time of heating or a trouble in feeding the film from occurring, by providing a thermosensitive transfer layer on one side of a base sheet comprising a polyphenylene sulfide resin to produce a thermosensitive transfer sheet. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transferable dye, namely, a sublimation transferable dye and a binder resin are dissolved or dispersed in an appropriate solvent to prepare a coating liquid. The coating liquid is applied to one side of a base sheet comprising a polyphenylene sulfide resin in such a coating weight as to give a dried film thickness of, for example, 0.2-5.0mum, preferably 0.4-2.0mum, followed by drying to provide a thermosensitive sublimation transfer layer, thereby producing a thermosensitive transfer sheet. A useful dye for forming the thermosensitive sublimation transfer layer is a dye having a molecular weight of about 150-400, and the dye can be selected in consideration of sublimation temperature, hue, light resistance, solubility in an ink and a binder resin, etc. |
