Method for opening a centrifugal separator in a solid-dependent manner with solid-discharge slots arranged on the periphery of the drum and a piston slide which is controlled in an axially movable hydraulic fashion for opening and closing the solid discharge slot and a solid-discharge system arranged around the drum. A method is described in which the timing of the discharge of the solids is dependent on the depositing of solids and in which the depositing of solids at the time of discharge is determined outside the rotating drum in the solids-discharge system. The value determined in this way is compared with a fixed value predetermined in a comparison device and the comparison value is converted into a control pulse which determines the timing of the subsequent discharge in a memory-programmed control. |
